Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) introduced Ladder 3, a state-of-the-art firefighting apparatus, to its fleet, the department said in a Facebook post Thursday, July 4. This rig combines the equipment capabilities of a ladder truck with the water-pumping ability of a pumper and is a testament to the community’s commitment to public safety. The realization of Ladder 3 was made possible through funding provided by the Penny Sales Tax.
Manufactured locally by E-ONE, Ladder 3 is a comprehensive firefighting solution. It comes equipped with five main tools crucial for effective firefighting: a pump, water tank, fire hose, aerial device, and ground ladders. These features significantly enhance OFR’s capabilities across a wide spectrum of emergency scenarios, from high-rise fires to complex rescue operations.
Ocala Fire Chief Clint Welborn expressed his enthusiasm about the new apparatus, stating, “Ladder 3 equips us with a secondary elevated master stream, facilitating firefighting and rescue capabilities in high-rise and commercial structures and providing additional leverage during roof access and vertical ventilation operations.”
With the integration of Ladder 3, OFR is better prepared to protect and serve the community, ensuring greater efficiency and effectiveness during emergencies. Ladder 3 will be assigned to OFR’s Station 3, located at 320 NE Eighth Avenue, and has officially gone into service July 3, 2024.
