The department had applied for an AFG grant for the apparatus purchase but had been turned down several times before finally being awarded the grant. Just prior to being awarded, the township was ready to provide funding for the apparatus.
The new fire apparatus is built on a Kenworth cab and chassis and carries 3,500 gallons of water.
