Darley Adds TSM 2000 into Pump Module lineup

By Jason S. Darley

W.S. Darley & Company has added its new TSM 2000 pump into the company’s Pump Module lineup. The TSM 2000 allows for a very compact pump module offering for our customers looking for higher flows. Historically, sacrifices in compartmentation or extending wheelbases or stretching the overall length of the apparatus was a consequence of going to a higher flow rating. Darley released the TSM pump to the OEM market in 2020 and to the marketplace at FDIC International in 2021. The addition to the Pump Module offerings is a natural next step for the product.

Pump modules allow OEMs advantages in production efficiencies and allow end users continuity in their pump houses in the overall layout, components, and efficiencies in training the mechanics who service the apparatus.

Darley offers a full range of PTO (power takeoff) and midship pumps in module offerings, as well as CAFS (compressed air foam system) and AUTOCAFS™ offerings. Standard modules are available in side-control and top-mount offerings with ratings from 500 gallons per minute (gpm) to 2,250 gpm. Darley also offers its Solution Series™ Modules which are designed to provide flows up to 1,250 gpm in a compact and low impact offering, fitting in the area typically reserved for the L1 compartment.

Darley also offers the OEM market the added value of mounting and testing on OEM-supplied chassis, and in the case of our AUTOCAFS modules, full calibration and service testing of the pump systems.

For wildland and urban interface customers building Type 6 units, our Odin Division offers self-contained, engine-driven pump packages with CAFS, UHP (ultra-high pressure), and foam units. These offerings are available in rear-mount and cross-mount packages and provide a clean and compact pump system.

Many of our OEM partners and end-user customers utilizing modules are repeat customers and have truly come to appreciate the benefits and added value of our module programs. Fire department training divisions should include some input from the mechanical division. As a mechanic, I can’t teach someone the proper way to put out a fire. I’m not trained for that. In the same breath, firefighters aren’t expected to know how the equipment they use works mechanically. Although firefighters don’t need to understand how to fix the equipment, a general understanding of how something works affects how they use it.
